Company History (it's a long story, sorry)
Super Stitches began as the sewing department of an outdoor equipment store in Columbus
Ohio in 1982. We specialized in camping equipment repairs of tents, packs and gear bags. Gradually we gave in
to continual requests to sew other things - especially banners. We became the finishers - the people who hemmed,
roped, and grommetted banners after they'd been screenprinted.
We developed a reputation as a company that could sew "anything" which led to a long
list of unusual jobs - from the fascinating to the bizarre. We created cheetah collars for zookeeper Jack Hanna's talk
show visits. We designed and built an operating table for horses and zebras for Ohio State University's veterinary school.
We made clear vinyl ice melting tents for polar expeditions. Discovery Columbus (which found the largest
shipwreck of gold in U.S. history) had us produce zippered camera sleeves for their underwater cameras. During this
time we also created a banner for Bank One that stretched around an entire city block.
All this was challenging, but in the end we gravitated to the more normal business of
banner sewing. The business moved to Youngstown Ohio for family reasons in 1991 and remains there today.
